Boiler and pressure vessel fabrication involves critical weld joints that must withstand high pressure, heat, and corrosion. Improper edge prep or weld sequencing can lead to:
Boiler plates such as ASTM A516 Gr 60/70, A387 Gr 11/22, EN 10028 P265GH / P355NH, and DSQ plates are generally considered weldable under standard conditions.
However, their weldability depends on:

Important: Always ensure low hydrogen electrodes, proper storage, and interpass cleaning to avoid hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC) in pressure service plates.

Tip: For Cr-Mo (A387) plates, always remove mill scale before welding and maintain slow cooling.
