A wear resistant plate (also known as abrasion resistant steel plate) is a specially engineered high-strength steel sheet designed to withstand extreme wear, impact, and abrasion in harsh working environments.
Unlike standard mild steel, wear plates are infused with carbon and alloying elements like chromium, manganese, or boron to increase surface hardness without making them brittle.
What Does It Do?
These plates act as a sacrificial layer in high-friction zones — protecting structural parts of equipment from erosion, gouging, or cracking.
Where Are Wear Resistant Plates Used?
- Mining Equipment: Buckets, dump truck liners, crushers
- Construction Machinery: Bulldozers, excavators, rollers
- Material Handling Systems: Chutes, hoppers, conveyors
- OEM Fabrication: Custom wear parts and assemblies
- Cement, Steel & Sugar Plants: Inner liners, blades, fans
- Defense: Ballistic armor (in specialized grades)
Popular Grades Include:
Grade/Brand | Hardness (BHN) | Applications |
---|---|---|
AR400 / HIND HARD 400 | 360–440 | General wear areas, buckets |
AR500 / HIND HARD 500 | 480–550 | High impact, shot blasting equipment |
Manganese X120Mn12 | Work-hardening | Quarry crushers, plowshares |
Chromium Carbide CCO | 600+ | Extreme abrasion, non-structural zones |
Key Features:
- High Hardness & Toughness
- Weldable (in many grades)
- Cut-to-size availability
- Ideal for OEM replacement parts
- Exported globally from India (UAE, Africa, USA)
